According to an August 13, 2025 press release, Bojangles will open 20 locations in New York City over the next 10 years, with the first appearing in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush neighborhood this winter. This move comes slightly more than two years after Raising Cane’s opened its first New York location in Times Square.

Bojangles also signed an agreement to develop 35 additional restaurants throughout New Jersey, further expanding the chain’s presence across the New York metropolitan area. Meanwhile, Bojangles has popped up in Nevada and Texas, and the company has promised 30 locations across Los Angeles County over the next six years.

The restaurant, which offers all-day breakfast and is known for its Southern-style fried chicken and biscuits, was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1977. Today, it boasts more than 800 locations in 21 states, although its restaurants are concentrated throughout the Carolinas and the Mid-Atlantic region.

While Bojangles has seen mixed results with previous expansions (in 2016, a franchisee closed eight Orlando restaurants after just one year), the restaurant chain’s latest strategy intends to “simplify operations,” “adapt to shifting consumer wants,” and “enhance the guest experience.” One prototype, for example, includes a Biscuit Theater in which customers can watch Bojangles’ famous biscuits being made. The restaurant has also updated its menu to appeal to younger generations, a demographic crucial to the company’s success. Recent additions include Bird Dogs (chicken tenders placed in a bun and covered in “bold” sauces), cookies, and breakfast burritos.

Technology is another key component in the chain’s expansion: the chain has implemented mobile ordering, kiosks, and delivery services. Bojangles is also leading the industry with AI in the drive-thru, a change that has improved accuracy and efficiency. In an interview with Business Insider, however, CEO José Armario emphasized the importance of maintaining “human touch” in his restaurants. He believes that technological upgrades, such as those in the drive-thru, have enabled Bojangles workers to focus more time on delivering exceptional customer service.

While the New York City expansion is spearheaded by Habib Hashimi and his Hashimi Holding Corporation, there are franchising opportunities in other prime territories throughout New York State. As Bojangles accelerates its expansion, the chain is committed to partnering with seasoned franchise owners and restaurant operators to grow its footprint in new and emerging markets. The brand is actively seeking individuals with strong financial capacity, relevant business or restaurant experience, a sophisticated professional background, and the ability to open at least three locations in their market.
